REFRIG / 046
Refrigerant Charge, Quality & Void Fraction Estimator
Convert two-phase volume occupancy into an order-of-magnitude refrigerant charge estimate while keeping quality, void fraction and phase densities explicit.
Use the cycle check to challenge the model.
Two-phase components can hold much more or much less refrigerant than their geometric volume suggests. Separating void fraction from mass quality is essential because vapor occupies volume disproportionately while carrying relatively little mass.
Define the state basis. Keep refrigerant state points, air-side conditions and power boundaries explicit.
Calculate transparently. The tool exposes the engineering balance rather than hiding it in a property lookup.
Compare with the CFD or 1D model. Use disagreement to identify inconsistent state definitions or component assumptions.
Continue from cycle balance to thermal diagnosis.
Connect the result to psychrometrics, multiphase checks or project-specific CFD support.
