WHY REYNOLDS NUMBER MATTERS

Re compares inertia with viscous effects.

Large Reynolds numbers indicate that inertial effects dominate relative to viscous diffusion. Small Reynolds numbers indicate stronger viscous influence. In CFD, Re helps frame expected flow behavior, turbulence modelling, mesh demands and the relevance of validation data.
